Thyroid GuidePx is a diagnostic test performed using next generation sequencing on a small needle biopsy or a surgical sample from a papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). PTC is the most common type of thyroid cancer, increasing in incidence by >6%/year. The test identifies important molecular subtypes of PTC and estimates risk of recurrence. The results of the test can inform the treatment: high risk PTCs are treated with a total thyroidectomy and radioactive iodine; low risk cancers can be treated by removal of part of the thyroid gland, and sometimes with radiofrequency ablation or even observation.
