French fintech company Skarlett has raised €8 million in seed funding to develop its financial services platform aimed at individuals over the age of 60. The round was led by 115K, the venture capital arm of La Banque Postale, with additional participation from Raise Seed for Good and returning investor Alven, who also contributed to the company’s pre-seed round in 2023. Founded by Townley Le Guénédal, Benjamin Gaignault, and Aurélien Gouttefarde, Skarlett is focused on addressing the financial needs of older adults, a demographic that comprises nearly one-third of France’s population and remains largely underserved by conventional financial institutions. The company provides a range of products including tailored health insurance, mortgage and credit options adapted for later-life borrowing, and savings tools such as senior-focused life insurance, offered in partnership with Generali. With a team of 30, Skarlett intends to use the new funding to expand its portfolio of proprietary financial products and to enhance the personalisation of its services using AI-driven tools.

The round is led by 115K, the VC fund of La Banque Postale, alongside Raise Seed for Good and Alven, which had led the pre-seed round in 2023. In France, “seniors” represent 19 million people—almost a third of the population. This group has diverse financial situations and evolving needs: often modest pension incomes (around €1,500/month on average), but significant wealth, particularly in real estate (a combined €3 trillion in assets among the 60+), and under-optimized savings (around €1 trillion in available savings). Skarlett aims to serve this under-targeted population with a full range of financial products that cover their financing, investment, and insurance needs. Optimized Savings Skarlett also offers simple, transparent, and competitive investment products—such as a senior-focused life insurance product in partnership with Generali, with entry fees as low as 1.49% (compared to a market average of 3%). Skarlett was founded by a trio of seasoned entrepreneurs, now joined by a team of 30: Townley Le Guénédal, CEO, also co-founder of Operandi (a strategy and legal consulting firm with 40+ team members) and Innohealth (a MedTech SaaS company). Benjamin Gaignault, Chief Growth Officer, co-founder of Ornikar (a driver’s ed and insurance platform with €170M raised, €100M in annual revenue, and a 300+ person team). Aurélien Gouttefarde, Chief Operating Officer, co-founder of Homeloop (a pioneer in instant home sales, with over €200M in real estate transactions and a 40+ person team). “Skarlett parle à 19 millions de Français de plus de 60 ans, en les aidant à s’occuper de leur pouvoir d’achat et de leurs finances personnelles tout en leur proposant un ensemble de solutions grâce à la technologie”. Cette startup lancée en 2023 par Townley Le Guénédal (ex- Operandi), Benjamin Gaignault (ex- Ornikar) et Aurélien Gouttefarde (ex- Homeloop) vient d’annoncer un tour de table en amorçage mené par 115K, le corporate venture capital (CVC) de la Banque Postale , de 8 millions d’euros. Pour cela, Skarlett a pu également compter sur le réinvestissement de partenaires déjà présents lors de la phase de pré-amorçage, tels que les fonds Alven et Raise Seed for Good . La startup avait levé alors 4 millions en 2023 lors de sa création. À l’origine de cette entreprise, il y a un constat simple : 1 Français sur 3 est âgé de 60 ans ou plus et ne dispose pas d’un pouvoir d’achat suffisant pour profiter de sa retraite. Les français touchent en moyenne 1500 euros par mois d’indemnités de retraite. “Jusqu’ici il n’y avait pas de marché financier pour les retraités. Il existait différents marchés généralistes dans lesquels quelques offres seulement subsistaient pour les seniors avec une stratégie marketing qui ne leur correspondait pas. Notre enjeu était de regrouper au sein d’un même cocon numérique tous ces sujets très connexes” explique Townley Le Guénédal, CEO de Skarlett. De nouveaux produits à venir chez Skarlett
Afin de pallier cette problématique, la plateforme permet aux retraités de renforcer leur pouvoir d’achat en choisissant parmi plus de 150 entreprises partenaires la meilleure mutuelle de santé, les meilleurs placements d’épargne et la possibilité de capitaliser sur leur patrimoine immobilier afin de récupérer des liquidités.“La particularité du secteur immobilier français est que la majeure partie des retraités sont propriétaires (environ 70%) et veulent la plupart du temps rester dans leur logement actuel. Nous proposons alors des solutions de démembrement immobilier telles que la vente en viager ou en nue propriété, visant à améliorer leur pouvoir d’achat sans pour autant vendre leur bien.”
En outre, ce tour de table doit permettre à l’entreprise de lancer et proposer de nouveaux produits notamment un service d’épargne qui sera conçu en partenariat avec Generali Patrimoine. Skarlett devrait également renforcer ses solutions technologiques et par la même occasion les capacités de ses agents IA afin de les rendre plus accessibles aux utilisateurs. “Nous avons créé des algorithmes qui permettent d’assouvir un besoin de mutuelle santé ou immobilier selon les problèmes rencontrés par un utilisateur et de lui proposer des solutions en temps réel. Par exemple, si un homme de 65 ans explique sur la plateforme qu’il a besoin de consulter un dentiste fréquemment, l’algorithme lui proposera la mutuelle la plus avantageuse sur les soins dentaires.”
Les prochains mois, la startup ambitionne de devenir une référence en la matière en France. Elle entend assez vite s’internationaliser notamment au sein des pays de l’Union Européenne. Néanmoins le cofondateur Townley Le Guénédal se veut très clair :“le développement international reste un objectif majeur pour Skarlett, mais il n'interviendra que lorsque nous serons une marque réflexe pour les retraités”.
