By Anda Sebesi, Editor-in-Chief, Business Review Magazine Nearly 8 in 10 Romanian entrepreneurs now have a positive self-image, up from 7 in 10 in 2024, while taxes remain the main source of stress, highlighting entrepreneurs’ persistent lack of trust in the state, as only 1% feel supported by local authorities. These are the main conclusions of The Mind your Business barometer by start-up.ro, which provides an in-depth look at how Romanian business owners perceive themselves, how they build their businesses, and what drives or worries them most. Entrepreneurs face dual pressure: managing their business while keeping team morale high. Many are concerned not only with business challenges, but also with broader issues such as war or rising extremism. Yet, having navigated multiple crises and social uncertainties, many now feel more appreciative of their resilience. Although weary from market stagnation and uncertainty, entrepreneurs remain cautiously optimistic. They focus on maintaining a positive attitude, staying adaptable, and exploring new opportunities. In the next six months, their main goals include strengthening market presence, boosting competitiveness, and exploring new business lines or markets. With many challenges ahead, at least for now, the local business environment needs to adjust its strategies and prove its resilience. The insurance industry is a positive example: on an upward trajectory, the sector shows both strength and untapped potential, particularly in the health and life segments. While there is still room for improvement, Romanians are becoming increasingly aware of risks such as climate change and are seeking personalised, trustworthy insurance solutions.
